Peter Liu is a Boston-based comedian who is quickly becoming a popular touring act around the globe. Raised in China, Australia, New Zealand, and New Jersey, Peter’s nomadic upbringing has given him a unique perspective on life in America and a keen eye for the absurd.
Peter’s comedy blends sharp wit with cultural insight. With disarming honesty and sly humor, Peter questions conventional wisdom as he delves into the immigrant experience, dating & relationships, and life with his eccentric family. Whether he’s captivating the crowd with a story or bantering back and forth with an audience member, Peter never takes his foot off the gas, delivering gut-punching laughs from beginning to end.
Peter has been featured on Amazon Prime, Don’t Tell Comedy and performed at The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, The Second City, San Francisco Sketch Fest and Laugh Boston. He has performed in the New York, Boulder, Burbank, Boston, Riot, Rogue Island, and North Carolina Comedy Festivals. Peter opened for Ronny Chieng at the Wilbur Theater and has shared the stage with JR De Guzman, Eugene Mirman, and Jason Cheny.

Peng was born in China. His standup connects two worlds from growing up in China to living in the United States. His humor is A fusion of both his modern and traditional Asian experiences moving from China to the United States. Peng shares his point of view about going from being a majority to a minority. Being Chinese in China is normal . Being Chinese in America is a different story. Peng shares his stories in a hilarious way. He is smart, humble and can laugh at himself as he adapts to post-Chinese life in America. You will laugh and relate as he shares his life with you. Peng is a regular performer at the world famous Comedy Cellar and a Finalist in the New York's Funniest Stand-up competition.
Hosted by Jamie Wang. Jaime is a NYC-based standup comedian from Shanghai, previously based in Taiwan. She’s performed at the Just For Laughs Asia Gala, opened for Atsuko Okatsuka and Sheng Wang, and has been featured on NPR and Al Jazeera. She was named Best New International Act at the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and is a finalist for the 2025 BBC Funny Women Content Creator Award.

Popcorn Comedy Boston May
You're invited to Popcorn Comedy: an intimate standup comedy experience in the Somerville Theatre's 30-seat microcinema! Our carefully curated lineup of comedians has been featured on Amazon Prime, The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, The Second City, Don't Tell Comedy, and the New York Comedy Festival.
This month's headliner is the hilarious Katie Arroyo. Known for her aggressively good natured act and surprising life experiences, Katie has toured across the country opening for Natasha Leggero. When she's back in New England, Katie can be found performing at the Rhode Island Comedy Connection, Mohegan Sun, MGM Roar, and Laugh Boston. She has delighted audiences in the Boston Comedy Festival, the Rogue Island Comedy Festival, and Sirius XM. Katie can connect with everyone and anyone, and when she's on the mic it's always a good time!
Doors open at 7:00pm and the show starts at 7:30pm.

Outside food and drink are allowed in the microcinema (aside from alcohol).

Opened in 1914, the historic Somerville Theatre is conveniently located right next to the Davis Square T stop on the Red Line. Parking is available nearby. The microcinema is in the basement of the theater. We can't wait to get things popping at the show!
